MHTA – Richfield based Best Buy has announced Stephen Gillett of Starbucks has been named executive vice president and president, Best Buy Digital and Global Business Services. He will begin reporting to CEO Brian Dunn next week.

Mobile March expands to two days
MHTA-The third installment of Mobile March has expanded to two days offering more sessions and advanced learning for coders, marketers and business leaders. In addition, Mobile 3D: Demos, Dinner and Drinks will take place at the same location allowing attendees to join in both events on March 16th and 17th at the Embassy Suites-Minneapolis Airport.
Application period opens for STEM scholarships
The Minnesota High Tech Foundation (MHTF) is once again awarding scholarships to Minnesota undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disiciplines. These awards include $5,000 and $10,000 awards and can include internship opportunities at MHTA member companies.
Unemployment drops to 5.6%
MHTA – Minnesota’s unemployment rate fell 0.1 percent in January to a seasonally adjusted 5.6 percent, according to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). The state remained well below the U.S. unemployment rate of 8.3 percent.
