The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) Foundation fuels Minnesota’s innovation by providing resources for building a workforce educated in science, technology, engineering and math. Through fundraising events and donations from the local technology community, the Foundation supports the goal of the MHTA to make Minnesota one of the country’s top five technology states. Founded in 1985, the MHTA Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to educating the public about the importance of a strong, technology-based workforce.
Minnesota has an incredible opportunity to build top talent in our workforce and that’s why the MHTA Foundation is powering Minnesota’s innovation by supporting the development of a STEM-educated workforce for the state’s current and future success. Donating to the MHTA Foundation is an investment in the future of Minnesota’s workforce. Together, we can pool our resources and excitement to become a top-competing state for technology business, which we’re accomplishing in three ways, by:
- Educating and supporting students through scholarships and hands-on experience,
- Communicating the need for STEM-educated college graduates, and
- Partnering with the local science and technology community to build strong connections and resources.
The MHTA Foundation Board of Directors meets monthly to prepare and develop Minnesota’s STEM Workforce.
The MHTA Foundation supports the STEM Education and workforce career continuum. Undergraduate students pursuing STEM-related degrees are encouraged to apply for STEM Scholarships through the MHTA Foundation.
Over the past 10 years, the MHTA Foundation has awarded more than half a million dollars in STEM scholarships to 135 undergraduate students from 26 Minnesota educational institutions.

Tech Experience Tours
The MHTA Foundation is also working to encourage more high school students to choose to pursue STEM careers through Tech Experience Tours.
Since May 2015, 200 students have participated in a Tech Experience Tour, and with the help of a generous grant from the AT&T Foundation, the MHTA Foundation anticipates up to 300 additional students will get to experience a Tech Experience Tour during the 2016-2017 school year.
The MHTA Foundation is raising donations through a series of events to bring the tech community together for a common cause: to develop and grow Minnesota’s innovation workforce.
MHTA Foundation Bids & Bytes Benefit — September 12, 2017
The MHTA Foundation is hosting its second annual “Bids & Bytes Benefit” to connect the tech community with leaders while raising funds to support the Foundation’s STEM Scholarship program. The benefit provides a rare opportunity for attendees to bid on unique one-on-one experiences with local, high profile tech leaders.
Minnesotans will be competing for nearly 200,000 technology jobs in the next decade. While these workers have the potential to make more than the average private sector wage, they will need additional training to prepare for the rigors of a high-tech career.
The MHTA Foundation connects business member companies with opportunities in the non-profit, education, and government sectors that are working to solve our growing workforce shortage.
