MHTA- The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) announced today that it will partner with the Minnesota Venture Capital Association (MVCA) to co-host the Minnesota Venture and Finance Conference (MVFC) in 2014 and beyond.
“We are excited about the opportunity to work with MVCA on this event,” said Margaret Anderson Kelliher, president and CEO of MHTA. “The conference is not only an important piece of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, but also a key element in Minnesota’s future prosperity.”
The conference was founded by The Collaborative and the MVCA in 1987 and is designed to bring together investors and entrepreneurs to discuss, learn and network in order to nurture Minnesota’s innovation economy.
Dan Carr, founder and CEO of The Collaborative announced earlier this year he will be suspending The Collaborative’s event activities and has aligned with and allocated a few of its events to various industry organizations.
“MHTA is a great home for the Minnesota Venture and Finance Conference,” Carr said. “The organization has a proven track record of successful collaboration and event production with its nationally recognized Tekne Awards and others. With the help of the MVCA and other industry partners, this conference is well positioned to continue fostering the innovation economy here in Minnesota.”
Carr will remain involved in the planning of the 2014 event with assistance from the advisory committee and MVCA.
“We are looking forward to our new partnership with MHTA and the continued success of the conference,” Kirk Nielsen, Managing Director at Versant Ventures and President of MVCA said. “As an investor in Minnesota, I am pleased that this event will continue to be a critical component in the entrepreneurial and investment community.”
The MVFC draws 400 attendees annually and will be scheduled in October at the Minneapolis Convention Center. This year’s event will mark the 28th year.
