IT as a Service: Getting out of the engine room and into the boardroom
IT people often struggle with how to be “part of the business” or get to be at the table. Many IT departments are now moving away from infrastructure, and becoming a consultant to the business. By becoming more customer oriented, IT departments not only integrate into the business, but also get a “seat at the table.”
To do this requires reframing how customer is defined. Is the customer internal or external? How do tactics and deliverables differ depending on the company and its line of business?
