MHTA - As the 2012 Minnesota legislative session begins, MHTA's government affairs committee will meet next week to consider its legislative agenda.  Committee members will review their past work and consider the best way to advance a technology-focused agenda.

The 2012 session could be short.  A new budget forecast delivered on February 29 will help determine whether that remains the case.  Currently, the forecast include a surplus of just under a billion dollars.  It the surplus holds, it could be the first time in several years lawmakers would not need to rebalance the budget during what's known as an "off year" session.

MHTA's legislative agenda utilizes cornerstones outlined in the association's public policy principles and is traditionally organized into three categories; educationm business and government.  If you are interested in helping develop MHTA's legislative agenda, contact the government affairs committee.
