2006 MDE STEM Forums
March 21, 2007
Dear STEM supporter,
On behalf of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), we would like to thank you for your interest and/or participation in the MDE STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Forums held across the State of Minnesota last fall. The thirteen forums brought together educators, business leaders, students and parents to share information and establish relationships in support of the STEM education process.
In addition to presentations and small group conversations, the MDE STEM Forums allowed program organizers to gauge pre- and post-forum attitudes of participants around STEM and to evaluate participant awareness of educational and community programs to support students and teachers. These surveys also provided us with a chance to clearly understand the role that business might take in support of these programs.
The analysis of the surveys and a set of recommendations have been outlined in a series of reports and presentations including:
- MDE STEM Forum Report Narrative
- MDE STEM Forum Media Report
- MDE/MHTA Joint STEM Presentation
The reports may be accessed online at www.mhta.org.
We are proud to be a part of the MDE STEM Forum process and look forward to continued momentum in the State of Minnesota where efforts are growing to connect the world of education with the world of work. We look forward to continued support and progress for our state’s most valuable resource, our students, and the educators who are working to help them develop as they become nation-leading and world-competing members of our future workforce.
Sincerely,
Kate Rubin
President, Minnesota High Tech Association
